“We are an organization who is passionate about empowering children in the jungle of Ecuador so that they can break the cycle of poverty and abuse and share a message of transformation with their family, community, country, and world.”
Not to leave the boys out or anything, but my heart is for the girls and being an advocate for their education first. Take the following from Half the Sky Movement as evidence to support why the girls win when it comes to healthy investing:
Studies have indicated that when women hold assets or gain income, the money is more likely to be spent on nutrition, medicine and housing, and consequently their children are healthier. For every dollar a woman earns, she invests 80 cents in her family. Men, on the other hand, invest around 30 cents and are more likely to squander money on alcohol and other vices. And that right there is one of the many reasons I absolutely loved Jungle Kids for Christ, an organization that invests all resources available to bring new and transformational opportunity to kids that would otherwise follow the same path of poverty as their family before them. They encourage families that live deep in the jungle to send their girls so that they can be the first to graduate and go on to University. There is a special place for the ladies because they realize that these beautiful and brilliant creations have been forgotten for far too long.
Along with a focus on the chicas, they are using the latest research based methods such as UbD (Understanding by Design) and project based learning to engage and prepare these kids for the global world that is rapidly developing.
They are doing it right and I would encourage you to support them if you have the means to do so! Junglekidsforchrist.org
